Community Invitation: District 2 Transportation Funding Open House

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) invites residents of District 2 to participate in a local funding open house on the evening of March 3, 2026. The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is part of a city-wide effort to address a $6 billion maintenance backlog. Attendees will have the opportunity to review proposals for new revenue streams, such as street damage restoration fees, and provide feedback on how the city should prioritize repairs for aging bridges, sidewalks, and traffic signals. Feedback collected during this session will be presented to the City Council later this spring.

Transit Alert: TriMet Spring Service Reductions Now in Effect

Commuters are advised that TriMet has implemented significant service changes as of March 1, 2026, to address a projected $300 million budget deficit. These changes remain active and may impact daily travel for those using the following routes:

  • Line 8 (Jackson Park/NE 15th): Reduced frequency during early morning and late evening hours.
  • Line 24 (Fremont/NW 18th): Route modifications to eliminate service on N Kerby Ave and N Russell St for faster cross-town transit.
  • Lines 48, 75, and 76: Adjusted schedules and reduced frequency on weekdays and weekends.

Riders are encouraged to check updated schedules to ensure their travel plans are not disrupted by these permanent service reductions.

Water Bureau Update: Bull Run Filtration Project Timeline

The Portland Water Bureau has officially requested a 24-month extension from the Oregon Health Authority regarding the compliance deadline for the Bull Run Filtration Project. Following recent updates, the project's estimated cost has risen to $2.56 billion due to land-use delays and increased material costs. The Bureau continues to host 'Coffee with the Contractor' sessions throughout March to provide neighbors and ratepayers with updates on pipeline construction and filtration facility progress. These informal sessions allow residents to ask questions directly to the project management team.
