Arrest follows late-night report of shooting in northeast Portland

A 47-year-old Portland woman has been arrested and booked on attempted murder and related weapons charges following a shooting that injured a man in the city’s Lloyd District, police said.

Officers responded at 9:32 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, to a report of a person shot in the 1200 block of Northeast 2nd Avenue. Emergency medical responders transported the victim to a hospital with injuries described by police as non-life-threatening.

Police locate scene and make arrest at nearby apartment building

Police said their initial investigation led officers to an apartment in the 1400 block of Northeast 7th Avenue, where they located the crime scene and arrested the suspect. Officers were assisted by detectives assigned to the Enhanced Community Safety Team, a unit that responds to gun-violence investigations.

The suspect was identified as Carlena M. Autry, also known as Carlena Jeffries, of Portland. She was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center, police said.

Charges include attempted murder and firearm possession allegation

Police said Autry was booked on the following charges:

  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree
  • Attempted Assault in the First Degree
  • Assault in the Second Degree
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm
  • Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Police said the investigation indicated the suspect and the victim knew each other. Authorities did not release additional details about what led up to the shooting, including any potential motive, the precise location where the shooting occurred, or whether the suspect has an attorney.

What is known about the victim’s condition and the investigation

The victim was expected to survive, based on information released by police. No other injuries were reported in the initial account of the incident, and no additional suspects were announced.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have asked anyone with information who has not already spoken with investigators to contact the Portland Police Bureau and reference case number 26-49412.

As of Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, investigators had not released further updates on potential court dates, whether a weapon was recovered, or additional allegations that might be filed by prosecutors.
