Three separate fires across the Portland area drew emergency responses over the weekend and early Monday

Firefighters responded to three unrelated incidents in and around Portland between Sunday morning and early Monday, as gusty conditions helped push flames and raised the risk of spread to nearby structures. The incidents included an early-morning house fire in Milwaukie, a mobile home fire in Gladstone and a fire that damaged a restaurant in Portland’s Lloyd District.

Milwaukie: flames spread from porch into attic; wind helped carry fire to a neighboring fence and shed

In Milwaukie, a single-story home in the 5600 block of Southeast Drefshill Street was significantly damaged in a fire reported shortly after 2:30 a.m. Monday. Firefighters arrived to find flames extending from a back porch area into the attic and inside the residence.

Crews worked from the top down, cutting into the roof to vent smoke while attacking the fire from inside. High winds contributed to embers and heat spreading to a neighboring fence and shed, but firefighters stopped the fire before it reached the adjacent home. Two residents escaped without reported injuries and were displaced. The cause remained under investigation.

Gladstone: mobile home left unlivable; resident displaced and one person injured

In Gladstone, a fire at Gladstone Mobile Estates broke out around 7:45 a.m. Sunday, waking nearby residents amid flames and smoke. Neighbors attempted to assist after believing someone may have been trapped inside, but heavy smoke limited entry.

Fire crews arrived with the possibility of an occupant inside and initiated a rescue-focused response. The resident was not in the home at the time and later returned. The fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes, and officials said the flames may have started in the kitchen. One person was reported injured, though officials did not specify whether the injury involved a resident or a responder. The mobile home sustained major damage and was deemed unlivable; the displaced resident received assistance from the American Red Cross. The cause remained under investigation.

Portland Lloyd District: exterior fire spread into restaurant wall; no injuries reported

In Portland’s Lloyd District, crews responded early Sunday to a fire at a Red Robin restaurant on Northeast Grand Avenue, near the Oregon Convention Center. Firefighters were alerted to flames burning against the building’s south wall, and a cleaning crew reported that the fire had extended into the interior.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze before it caused extensive damage. Officials attributed the fire to a warming fire from a nearby homeless camp. No injuries were reported.

What’s confirmed across the incidents

  • All three fires were described as separate incidents, each under investigation where applicable.
  • Displacement was confirmed in Milwaukie (two residents) and Gladstone (one resident).
  • One injury was reported in Gladstone; no injuries were reported in the Milwaukie and Lloyd District incidents.

In each case, crews focused on preventing extension beyond the initial structure, including protecting nearby homes and containing fire spread to adjoining materials.
