Trail Blazers beat short-handed Suns 92-77 on Feb. 22, 2026, behind Clingan, Grant

Portland’s defense and interior production swing a low-scoring game in Phoenix
The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Phoenix Suns 92-77 on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, in Phoenix, holding the Suns to a season-low 77 points in a game defined by limited availability on both benches and prolonged offensive struggles.
Center Donovan Clingan and forward Jerami Grant carried Portland’s scoring load with 23 points apiece. Clingan added 13 rebounds and four blocks, anchoring a Blazers defense that repeatedly disrupted Phoenix at the rim and helped Portland build separation in the second half. The win came two nights after Portland’s 157-103 loss to Denver, and it continued a recent stretch in which the Blazers have won five of their last seven games.
Game flow: a decisive third quarter and a brief Suns push
Portland led 47-40 at halftime after Phoenix opened the game with extreme inefficiency from three-point range, making only 2 of 19 attempts (10.5%) before the break. The Blazers extended the margin to 20 late in the third quarter and entered the fourth with a 71-57 advantage.
Phoenix made one meaningful run when guard Collin Gillespie hit two three-pointers to trim the deficit to 80-69 with 7:36 remaining. Grant responded with a three-pointer that stabilized Portland’s lead and blunted the comeback attempt.
Injuries and absences reshape rotations
Portland lost Deni Avdija after roughly one minute when he aggravated a lower back issue; he had been listed as questionable entering the game. The Blazers also played without Shaedon Sharpe.
Phoenix entered the night short-handed as well, missing Devin Booker (hip strain), Dillon Brooks (fractured hand), Grayson Allen (knee/ankle) and Jordan Goodwin (calf). The game was also the Suns’ second night of a back-to-back after a double-overtime win over Orlando on Feb. 21.
Key numbers: shooting, turnovers and shot deterrence
Clingan: 23 points, 13 rebounds, 4 blocks.
Grant: 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting.
Phoenix leaders: Gillespie scored 18; Jalen Green added 13.
Suns shooting: 36.9% from the field; 77 points marked their lowest output of the season.
Turnovers: Portland committed 21 and Phoenix had 19, contributing to a disjointed offensive rhythm for both teams.
Portland’s advantage came less from efficiency than from defensive control, with Clingan’s rim protection and Grant’s timely scoring separating the teams after halftime.
Portland’s next game is at home against Minnesota on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Phoenix is scheduled to host Boston the same night.
