Portland Winter Light Festival marks 11th anniversary with February 6–14, 2026 citywide installations

Citywide light-art festival returns in February with free nightly viewing and expanded anchor-site weekends
The Portland Winter Light Festival will mark its 11th anniversary Feb. 6–14, 2026, staging nine nights of illuminated art across downtown and the central city. Most displays are scheduled to be visible nightly from 6–10 p.m., with clustered “anchor site” programming concentrated on two weekends.
Organizers have set the 2026 theme as “All the Little Things,” framing this year’s programming around small-scale forces and details—ranging from insects and microscopic worlds to reflections in minerals and the role of memory. The festival is free to attend and is produced by the Willamette Light Brigade, a Portland nonprofit founded in 1988 that has long worked on nighttime identity projects, including bridge lighting and public light installations.
Where the main activity will be concentrated
Anchor sites will operate Fridays and Saturdays only—Feb. 6–7 and Feb. 13–14—from 6–10 p.m. The three primary anchor locations are Pioneer Courthouse Square (701 SW 6th Ave.), the World Trade Center (131 SW Salmon St.), and the Electric Blocks (236 SE Clay St.). These hubs are expected to host the densest concentration of installations and many scheduled performances.
Beyond the anchor sites, pop-up installations are planned throughout Portland, including illuminated retail windows and displays integrated into storefronts, business interiors, and street-visible locations. The festival footprint is set to extend through downtown corridors and nearby districts, with additional highlighted areas including Director Park, Ankeny Alley, Old Town, and Portland State University.

Programming additions: Glow Bar nights and PSU–LAIKA collaboration
Festival programming includes a 2026 edition of Glow Bar at Columbia Square (111 SW Columbia St.), featuring food, beverages, art, and live performances on multiple nights, including late hours until midnight on Feb. 6–7 and Feb. 13–14. A preview event is scheduled for Feb. 5.
At Portland State University, a collaboration with Portland-based animation studio LAIKA is set to bring light-based displays to the campus and South Park Blocks, highlighting behind-the-scenes creative work associated with stop-motion filmmaking. PSU also plans a public gathering at the Simon Benson House on Feb. 13 from 6–8 p.m., tied to its installation.
The 2026 theme, “All the Little Things,” is designed to spotlight how small details and unseen forces can shape experiences—an approach reflected in planned installations, projections, and interactive displays.
Transportation and access details
Festival navigation is expected to rely on an integrated program and map, with installations distributed across multiple zones. For the four anchor-site nights—Feb. 6, 7, 13 and 14—Portland Streetcar rides are scheduled to be free starting at 5 p.m., aligning with peak festival hours.
Organizers have indicated that attendees should anticipate outdoor viewing conditions typical for Portland winter evenings and plan accordingly.
