Shooting reported at Northeast Sandy Boulevard motel

A suspect was arrested early Thursday after a shooting at a motel in Portland’s Parkrose neighborhood, where officers found an adult man with life-threatening injuries and later recovered a firearm during a search of the surrounding area.

Police responded at about 2:45 a.m. on March 5, 2026, to reports of gunfire at a motel in the 11300 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in life-threatening condition.

Perimeter established; suspect found within an hour

Responding officers learned the suspected shooter had fled on foot. Police established a perimeter and searched nearby streets and properties. After approximately one hour, officers located and detained an adult male suspect for questioning.

Investigators recovered a firearm in the course of the response and search, police said. Authorities have not released the suspect’s name or specified potential charges in the initial announcement.

Homicide detectives leading investigation due to severity of injuries

Because the victim’s injuries were considered life-threatening, detectives from the Portland Police Bureau Homicide Unit responded to lead the investigation. At this stage, investigators have not publicly described the circumstances that preceded the shooting, including whether the victim and suspect knew each other, the location within the property where gunfire occurred, or what prompted the confrontation.

Police have also not announced whether additional suspects are being sought, whether surveillance video is being reviewed, or whether witnesses described the suspect’s movements before the perimeter was established.
