Portland International Jetport reports record 2025 passenger traffic, driven by added routes and terminal expansion

Record year surpasses 2024 total
Portland International Jetport said 2025 became the busiest year in its history, with 2,593,067 passengers traveling through the airport. The total exceeded the prior annual record set in 2024, when 2,438,054 passengers flew in and out of the Jetport.
Airport officials also described the 2025 figure as part of a multi-year rebound and growth trend following the sharp downturn in air travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Jetport reported it surpassed its pre-pandemic passenger levels in 2023.
Airlines, destinations, and market share in 2025
The Jetport reported that nine airlines provided service to 27 nonstop destinations during 2025. American Airlines carried the largest share of passengers, followed by Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
- American Airlines: 726,443 passengers (28.01%)
- Delta Air Lines: 584,857 (22.55%)
- United Airlines: 525,984 (20.28%)
- Southwest Airlines: 426,131 (16.43%)
- Breeze Airways: 187,107 (7.22%)
- JetBlue Airways: 90,248 (3.48%)
- Frontier Airlines: 27,997 (1.08%)
- Sun Country Airlines: 21,855 (0.84%)
- Avelo Airlines: 2,445 (0.09%)
New routes added during the year
Three new destinations were listed as additions in 2025, reflecting a mix of leisure and network-carrier expansion:
- Columbus, Ohio (Breeze Airways)
- New Haven, Connecticut (Avelo Airlines)
- Houston, Texas (United Airlines)
Terminal upgrades aimed at higher volumes
Airport leaders tied the passenger record to infrastructure work intended to increase gate capacity and improve the passenger experience. The Jetport said a $21.6 million, 4,200-square-foot concourse addition opened in July 2025, adding three passenger boarding bridges, seven ADA-accessible all-gender restrooms, and a new service animal relief area.
The Jetport also reported deploying an in-terminal navigation system through the GoodMaps platform, intended to assist travelers with wayfinding, including passengers who are vision-impaired or neurodivergent.
Early 2026 service announcements
Looking ahead, the Jetport said momentum was continuing into 2026. United Airlines announced Saturday-only peak-summer service to San Francisco and Los Angeles, which the airport described as the first-ever nonstop transcontinental flights from Maine to California.
"Another record setting year is in the books," Jetport Director Paul Bradbury said in a statement announcing the 2025 totals.
