Portland Burglary Task Force asks public to identify suspect in downtown Hana Sushi break-in

Investigation centers on early-morning burglary near Southwest 6th Avenue
Portland’s multi-agency Burglary Task Force is asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect accused of breaking into a downtown sushi restaurant and stealing cash and property.
The burglary occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at Hana Sushi Restaurant, 506 Southwest 6th Avenue. Investigators say the suspect caused damage during the break-in and left the area traveling southbound on Southwest 6th Avenue.
Suspect description released as investigators seek tips
Authorities described the suspect as a white man, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old. He was reported to be wearing a dark New Balance jacket over a bluish-gray hoodie, dark blue pants, and black-and-white shoes. Police said he was carrying a black Adidas backpack.
The Burglary Task Force is requesting that anyone who recognizes the person described, or who has information connected to the case, contact investigators and reference case number 26-34413.
Task force reflects broader push to address commercial break-ins
The request for information comes as local officials continue to expand coordinated enforcement aimed at business burglaries. In late 2025, Multnomah County’s district attorney and regional law enforcement partners announced the creation of a burglary-focused task force intended to improve follow-up investigations and prosecutions in commercial break-in cases.
The task force model combines investigators and analysts with prosecutors across multiple agencies, with a focus on patterns, repeat offenders and coordinated groups. In other recent cases, authorities have reported using surveillance video, case link analysis and timely arrests near crime scenes to develop charges while continuing to pursue additional suspects.
