Morning Disruptions on I-84 and Banfield Expressway

Commuters heading east through the city this morning should prepare for specific ramp closures on the Banfield Expressway. According to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), the I-84 eastbound on-ramp from Willow Street is scheduled for a full closure today, Saturday, February 7. Crews will be onsite to repair a crash attenuator from 6:00 AM until approximately 12:00 PM. Drivers who typically use the Willow Street entrance are advised to use the 58th Avenue or 82nd Avenue on-ramps as alternatives during the morning hours.

Additionally, motorists on I-84 should watch for maintenance operations between Milepost 10 and 15, near 122nd Avenue. A moving operation will result in a right shoulder closure on the eastbound side throughout the day. Please slow down and move over for maintenance vehicles to ensure worker safety.

Major Weekend Work at the Abernethy Bridge

Long-term construction continues to impact the I-205 corridor near Oregon City. Travelers crossing the Abernethy Bridge should expect significant nighttime restrictions. Starting at 10:00 PM tonight, the northbound lanes of I-205 will be restricted to a maximum width of 18 feet. More importantly, the Exit 9 off-ramp from I-205 northbound to OR-99E will be completely closed from 10:00 PM tonight through 8:00 AM Sunday morning. For those traveling through West Linn, daytime flagging is also expected on Main Street from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM today as part of the ongoing corridor widening project.

I-5 and US-26 Arterial Updates

While the I-5 RealTime Signs project has no active work scheduled for today, other restrictions remain in place near the I-405 interchange. Southbound I-5 will be restricted to a 14-foot width limit nightly between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM. On US-26 (Powell Boulevard), a continuous 10-foot width restriction remains in effect between SE 79th and SE 99th Avenue due to pedestrian safety improvements. Commuters in the West Hills should expect standard Saturday volume with no major reported incidents on the Sunset Highway as of this morning.

TriMet and Washington County Road Alerts

Public transit users should note that the MAX Blue Line experienced residual delays of up to 15 minutes very early this morning due to operational issues near Lloyd Center. While regular service has largely resumed, riders are encouraged to check real-time arrival displays. In Washington County, the following closures are active today:

  • River Road: Remains closed to all through traffic between Davis Road and Oakhurst Street for sanitary sewer installation.
  • 185th Avenue: Expect lane and sidewalk closures near Alderwood Drive due to development work; delays are expected throughout the day.
  • Brookman Road: A full closure is in effect at the intersection of Oberst Road for utility work; please follow signed detours.
