Falmouth man arrested in Portland after alleged armed home intrusion and electric scooter chase Sunday

Portland police arrested a 34-year-old man from Falmouth on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, after an alleged armed disturbance inside a Munjoy Hill residence and a later attempt to flee from officers on an electric scooter that ended in a collision with a police cruiser.
Police said officers were dispatched shortly before 1 p.m. to a home on Munjoy South Street following a report of a disturbance. Investigators allege the man forced entry by kicking in the front door, threatened a resident with a handgun and struck the resident before leaving the area.
Police reported locating the suspect around 3:40 p.m. riding an electric scooter near Silver Street. Officers attempted to stop him, but he fled. The pursuit ended near the intersection of Spring Street and High Street, where police said the scooter crashed into a cruiser and the man was taken into custody with assistance from additional officers, including a K-9 unit.
Charges and items seized
The man, identified by police as Devon Dwyer, was booked on multiple charges, including assault, burglary, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, aggravated drug trafficking, and violating conditions of release.
Police reported recovering multiple weapons and suspected narcotics at the time of the arrest. Officers said the suspect was wearing ballistic plate body armor under his clothing and was armed with a handgun and a fixed-blade knife. Police also reported seizing approximately 91 grams of fentanyl along with other drugs.

Medical evaluation and custody
Police said the suspect was taken to MaineHealth Maine Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries following the crash and arrest. He was later transferred to the Cumberland County Jail.
