Expect Nightly Delays on I-5 and Service Changes at Washington Park MAX Station

Morning Commute Overview
Commuters in the Portland metro area can expect a relatively smooth start to the morning of Tuesday, February 10, 2026. There are currently no weather-related chain advisories or major road closures reported on city streets. However, travelers should be mindful of ongoing maintenance and construction projects on several major arteries that may cause minor delays throughout the day.
TriMet Robertson Tunnel Maintenance
TriMet has issued a service alert for the MAX Blue and Red lines due to planned Robertson Tunnel inspections. This maintenance work is scheduled to continue through February 12. While daytime service remains largely unaffected, commuters traveling after 10:00 p.m. should be aware of the following:
- All trains at the Washington Park MAX Station will board from a single platform as directed by staff.
- Expect minor delays and pay close attention to platform signage and announcements if you are traveling late in the evening.
I-5 Corridor Restrictions and Maintenance
Several work zones on I-5 will impact traffic, particularly for commercial vehicles and night-shift commuters:
- Northbound I-5 (MP 301.59 to 301.96): Width restrictions are in place between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. nightly. Loads wider than 14 feet are restricted.
- Southbound I-5 (MP 302.33): Height and width restrictions are active nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. near the Broadway-Weidler area due to ongoing bridge and maintenance work.
- I-5 near Terwilliger Blvd: Crews are continuing the installation of RealTime Variable Advisory Speed signs. While primarily an overnight project with short-term lane closures, shoulder work may be visible during daylight hours.
- I-5 Northbound at MP 301 (near I-84): A left-lane closure is in effect for median maintenance. Drivers should prepare to merge and slow down when approaching the I-84 interchange.
Additional Regional Alerts
Commuters utilizing I-84 and I-205 should also factor in these persistent work zones:
- I-84 (MP 20.16 to 22.77) near Corbett: Be advised of width restrictions (16 feet) between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This may impact larger commercial vehicles during peak daytime hours.
- I-205 Northbound Exit 9: The off-ramp to OR99E Northbound in Oregon City remains closed nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. through the end of next week.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution in all work zones and watch for workers and equipment as these projects continue toward their late February completion dates.
