East Portland Hazel Heights enforcement operation leads to fentanyl seizure, gun recovery, and identity-fraud evidence

Operation focused on a long-running corridor of street-level dealing
A coordinated Portland Police Bureau enforcement operation in East Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood resulted in the arrest of a suspect wanted on multiple felony warrants and the seizure of fentanyl and other contraband. The operation took place on the morning of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in the area of Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street, an intersection that has been the subject of repeated community concerns tied to open-air drug activity.
Investigators working in plainclothes identified suspected drug transactions and relayed information in real time to uniformed officers, who then carried out enforcement actions. The mission also served as a training exercise for newer officers and recruits who volunteered to participate.
Arrest at Hazel Heights followed by search warrant
During the suppression effort, officers developed information that led them to a drug trafficker wanted on multiple felony warrants. Police arrested the suspect at Hazel Heights, an apartment community in the 12600 block of Southeast Stark Street. Officers reported recovering fentanyl and a substantial amount of cash during the arrest.
Based on probable cause, investigators obtained a court-authorized search warrant for the suspect’s residence. Police reported that the subsequent search produced narcotics, a firearm, and materials consistent with both drug distribution and identity-related financial crimes.
Items seized: fentanyl, suspected counterfeit pills, and fraud-related equipment
Police reported the following seizures from the residence:
- Approximately 57 grams of fentanyl
- Approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine
- Approximately 29 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
- 27 suspected counterfeit “Xanax” pills
- A firearm and ammunition
- Multiple stolen identification cards
- A commercial-grade ID printer
- Multiple stolen checks
- A manipulated or stolen passport
- Scales, packaging materials, and a money counter
Police said the evidence suggested ongoing narcotics distribution alongside identity-related financial crimes affecting potential victims.
Charges filed; potential federal review noted
The suspect was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges that include unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, felony possession of fentanyl, aggravated identity theft, and felon in possession of a firearm, along with multiple outstanding felony warrants. Police said the case may be reviewed for potential federal prosecution due to the quantity of narcotics involved, the suspect’s criminal history, and the presence of a firearm.
The operation reflects an enforcement approach that pairs visible patrol actions with follow-up investigations intended to identify higher-impact suspects operating beyond single street transactions.
