City Service Alert: PortlandMaps Maintenance and Essential Health Advisories

Public Service Announcement: Digital System Maintenance

The City of Portland has issued a critical service notice regarding the PortlandMaps system. Starting Friday, February 27, at 6:00 p.m. and continuing through Sunday, March 1, at 6:00 p.m., the PortlandMaps website and several interconnected features on the official Portland.gov portal will be unavailable. This maintenance period will impact the public's ability to utilize online webforms, request specific city services, or report non-emergency issues digitally. Residents requiring assistance during this outage are encouraged to contact the 3-1-1 information line or email the city help desk directly.

Health Advisory: Measles Outbreak and Respiratory Virus Surge

Local health officials are monitoring a recently declared measles outbreak following five confirmed cases in the region. The Oregon Health Authority reminds the public that measles is a highly contagious airborne virus that can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person has left a space. In addition to the measles alert, health departments report a significant rise in influenza transmission across the state. Public health officers recommend staying up to date on vaccinations and practicing respiratory hygiene. February also marks American Heart Month, with the city promoting cardiovascular health through active lifestyle initiatives and stress management resources.

Portland City Council Legislative Roundup

Following the sessions held on February 25 and 26, 2026, the City Council has moved forward with several significant legislative items. Councilors introduced Resolution 2026-074, formally declaring the City of Portland’s commitment to defending the rights of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Additionally, an ordinance was introduced to amend the Civil Rights Code to modernize definitions related to sexual orientation and family status. Other recent actions include updates to the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefit Fund and preliminary discussions regarding an overhaul of the city council’s committee structure, which aims to transition from eight policy committees to five streamlined groups by the end of March.

Transportation and Infrastructure Updates

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) continues work on several major safety and paving projects active this weekend:

  • NE Glisan Paving and Safety Project: Construction is currently underway on NE Glisan Street to improve accessibility and repave the corridor.
  • Speed Limit Reductions: New 25 mph speed limits are now enforceable on NE Killingsworth Street (from 42nd Avenue to Lombard Street) and SE Division Street (from Third to 52nd avenues) as part of the city’s Vision Zero safety initiative.
  • Outer SE Powell Boulevard: Ongoing safety improvements between SE 99th and SE 174th avenues include the addition of sidewalks and center turn lanes.

Commuters are advised to expect overnight lane closures on I-5 southbound near the Burnside Bridge as seismic retrofit work and median repairs continue through the weekend.
