Public Notice: PBOT Winter Readiness and Vision Zero Safety

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) has issued its January 2026 safety update, emphasizing winter weather preparedness for all residents. With the increased risk of landslides during the winter months, property owners are advised to keep ditches, culverts, and trash racks clear of debris to prevent localized flooding and property damage. Drivers are encouraged to carry snow chains and stay informed through the PBOT Winter Weather Center for real-time updates on road closures and snowplow routes. Additionally, the Vision Zero program is prioritizing safety on high-crash streets through new investments in street lighting and signal visibility to protect pedestrians and cyclists during low-visibility conditions.
