Public Notice: Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closures

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, most City of Portland and Multnomah County administrative offices will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026. This closure includes the Bureau of Development Services, the City Budget Office, and the Multnomah County Elections Division. While administrative offices are offline, emergency services remain fully operational. Normal business hours for all municipal offices and county services are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, January 20. Residents are advised to use online portals for bill payments or permit applications during this time, though processing will be delayed until the next business day.

Portland Parks & Recreation Special Holiday Hours

Although city offices are closed, the Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) bureau has announced that several community centers and indoor pools will remain open on Monday, January 19, to accommodate holiday recreation. The following locations will operate with special holiday hours, typically from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.:

  • Charles Jordan Community Center: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • East Portland Community Center and Indoor Pool: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Pool closes at 5:30 p.m.)

Public Engagement: PBOT Snowplow Naming Contest

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), in collaboration with the City Elections Office, has officially opened public voting for the second annual Snowplow Naming Contest. After receiving more than 3,300 submissions, officials have narrowed the list to 20 finalists. Community members are invited to use a ranked-choice voting ballot to select the top five names that will be featured on the city’s newest snowplow fleet. This initiative also serves as a public education tool for the city’s ranked-choice voting system. The deadline to cast a ballot is Sunday, January 25, at 5:00 p.m.

Human Trafficking Awareness Month Proclamation

Multnomah County has issued a formal proclamation designating January 2026 as Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month. This official notice highlights the county’s ongoing efforts to expand shelter and housing resources for survivors and to launch a new resource map website. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s office continues to prioritize victim-centered investigations and community education to address the root causes of trafficking in the region.

Upcoming City Council Meeting Notice

Due to the holiday, there is no City Council session scheduled for Monday, January 19. The Portland City Council will hold its next regular meeting on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The agenda includes a presentation of the January 2026 City Administrator Report and a public hearing regarding the annexation of property at 5048 SW Hilltop Lane.
