Broadway in Portland brings The Wiz to Keller Auditorium for an eight-performance engagement in February

Production arrives as part of Broadway in Portland’s 2025–26 lineup
Broadway in Portland is presenting The Wiz at Keller Auditorium from Feb. 3 through Feb. 8, 2026, a limited engagement scheduled for eight performances. The stop is part of the presenting series’ 2025–26 season at the downtown Portland venue.
The touring production revisits the musical’s reimagining of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, adapting the familiar journey of Dorothy and her companions through a contemporary lens shaped by soul, gospel, rock and 1970s funk influences in the score.
Who’s on stage: principal cast announced for the Portland run
The principal cast for the national tour includes Dana Cimone as Dorothy and Alan Mingo Jr. as The Wiz. Additional featured casting includes Sheherazade as Glinda; Kyla Jade as Aunt Em and Evillene; Elijah Ahmad Lewis as Scarecrow; D. Jerome as Tinman; and Mykal Kilgore as Lion.
While touring casts can change over the course of a multi-city run, the Portland engagement is billed with the above principal performers for the February dates at Keller Auditorium.
Creative team reflects a modernized staging of a landmark title
The tour’s creative leadership includes director Schele Williams and choreographer JaQuel Knight. The production also features additional material by writer Amber Ruffin, with music supervision, orchestrations and music arrangements by Joseph Joubert.
Design credits for the touring production include scenic design by Hannah Beachler, costume design by Sharen Davis, lighting design by Ryan J. O’Gara and sound design by Jon Weston, with video and projection design by Daniel Brodie. Hair and wig design is credited to Charles G. LaPointe, with makeup design by Kirk Cambridge-Del Pesche.
Why The Wiz remains historically significant
The Wiz premiered on Broadway in 1975 and went on to win seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The original production became a prominent example of a major Broadway title built around Black performers and musical traditions, and its best-known songs—such as “Ease on Down the Road” and “Home”—have remained central to the show’s identity.
